Catholic Social Thought
Enters its Ecological Phase*
The Center for Earth Jurisprudence is a collaborative venture of the law schools of Barry and St. Thomas Universities in Southern Florida. Both schools are rooted in the Catholic tradition. Scholars of the Catholic Intellectual Tradition note that the defining element of a Catholic law school in the 21st century is “a commitment to justice—not only justice under the law, but justice and fairness in society."** You are invited to explore through the following slides the evolving relationship between justice and ecology in this Catholic tradition... *The phrase, “enters its ecological phase,” is borrowed from the subtitle of the book by Mary Evelyn Tucker, Worldly Wonder (Chicago, Open Court, 2003). **Barbara Bader Aldave, “The Reality of a Catholic Law School,” 78 Marq.
