What's the Story Behind the Center for Earth Jurisprudence?

CEJ began in the Fall of 2006 with initial funding from a Marie V. Gendron grant. The Center formally began its educational component with an Earth Jurisprudence seminar offered at the Barry Law School in Spring, 2007 (view syllabus). Employing a variety of teaching methods and resources, such courses enable students to think creatively about possible legal approaches to global ecological challenges (view student papers). CEJ since its beginning has collaborated with a variety of other organizations, and in November, 2006, three members of the center attended the UKELA conference on Wild Law, held at the University of Brighton, and the extended weekend workshop in Arundel, Sussex County, England. The Center for Earth Jurisprudence was hosted by the Gaia Foundation, London.

All of our events, outreach, and resources are made possible through the generous support of grants and individual donors. If you would like to partner with CEJ to further our mission of creating laws and governance for a more healthy Earth community, consider making a tax-deductible donation.
