This interdisciplinary conference will focus on deepening awareness of the central role water plays in the life of the planet. Engage with natural and social scientists, theologians, poets and local activists; discover how water’s future and ours are intimately linked…and what needs to be done to safeguard both.

At Barry University on Tuesday, Michael Grunwald, author this year's Barry common reader, The Swamp: The Everglades, Florida, and the Politics of Paradise, will deliver the keynote talk during the lunch session. That evening, special guest and renowned nature photographer Clyde Butcher will share slides of his photos of the endangered waters of South Florida, the Everglades and Biscayne Bay, and will speak on the need for humans to be responsible for the waters of our bioregions.
